ASAL USUL DAN PERKEMBANGAN MICROTEACHING
Ide mikro-teaching untuk pertama kalinya berasal dari Universitas Stanford di Amerika Serikat, ketika sebuah Proyek Percobaan pada identifikasi keterampilan mengajar sedang berlangsung di bawah bimbingan dan pengawasan anggota fakultas (Bush, Allen, McDonald Acheson dan banyak lainnya) . Proyek ini dibantu oleh Ford Foundation dan Yayasan Kettering. Tim ahli ditugaskan dalam pengembangan alat uji dan evaluasi untuk mengukur pencapaian keterampilan mengajar. Pada saat ini Keath Acheson, seorang pekerja penelitian menyelidiki utilitas perekam video tape dalam pengembangan keterampilan mengajar teknis. Instrumen ini dapat digunakan untuk merekam interaksi kelas dan perilaku peserta pelatihan jelas dan akurat. Hal ini menyebabkan pengembangan metode sistematis dan akurat memberikan umpan balik kepada peserta pelatihan guru.

Apa itu Pembelajaran Microteaching?
Pembelajaran mikro (micrteaching) merupakan suatu situasi pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan dalam waktu dan jumlah siswa yang terbatas, yaitu selama 5 – 20 menit dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 3 – 10 orang (Cooper dan Allen, 1971). Bentuk pembelajaran yang sederhana, dimana calon guru/dosen berada dalam suatu lingkungan kelas yang terbatas dan terkontrol.
